Clanwar Admin Tips
Written by Acromus
Administrating a Clanwar can be tough if you haven’t done it before. Also there are some rules to follow.
1) Login
To log-in as Administrator you have to open the console and type in:
login PASSWORD
(PASSWORD stands for whatever the password is)
If you fail typing it in correctly 3 times, you will automatically be booted.
2) Console
Bind the console to a key. Because you will need it plenty of times during a Clanwar.
I use the useless F1 Key that pops up some help window by default.
bind x:[console]
3) Basic Admin Console-Commands
endround (Instantly ends and restarts the current round)
map MAPNAME (Change to the desired map. Example: map Border)
users (allows you to see the player’s IP’s and Number you need for booting)
boot # (# stands for the number infront of the playername when you type in users. Example: boot 12)
ban IP (IP stands for the player’s IP, when you type in users. Example: ban 85.142.132.32)
force_team_balance 0 or 1 (If 0 then the Teams won’t be balanced, if 1 then the Teams will be balanced)
4) Endround
This is the command that you will use the most during a Clanwar.
Only use it while the Player_Wait_Time is counting down. Or right after the first players have spawned.
Don’t use it right in the middle of a round. Everyone will be like WTF and complain.
It’s to end and restart the current round.
Use it in the beginning of every new Map, so that all players spawn at the exact same time – which makes it fair for everyone.
Use it when someone has accidentially picked the wrong Team.
Use it when someone has accidentially picked a restricted Player Class.
5) map MAPNAME
You can use this command only in the very first round of a Map. Otherwise it will screw up the round counting.
Gore always keeps the amount of played rounds in mind.
The standardized TACT game has 5 rounds.
If you use the “map”-Command in the 2nd round to switch to another Map, then this Map will only have 3 rounds.
If you use the “map”-Command in the 3rd round to switch to another Map, then this Map will only have 2 rounds.
The solution to fix this “bug” while it’s “active”:
6) Solution to fix the “Round-Count” bug:
- Tell everyone that the further rounds of the current map do not count, or
- Tell everyone to commit suicide, to get to the next map as fast as possible.
7) Boot/ban
It happens from time to time that someone screams out the Serverpassword in a Public Server or that someone figures out an easy password.
In that case, if this player is not supposed to play in the Clanwar, first ban, then boot – to make sure that he can’t rejoin.
8 ) Force_team_balance 0
In a Clanwar force_team_balance should always be set to 0.
This allows everyone to pick the Playerclass without delay –> The rounds start faster.
Example: In the case of a 8vs8 Clanwar, a lot of people will most likely connect slower than others.
Now 3 players are already in MOB, and 2 are in UMC. If force_team_balance is set to 1, then no-one can join MOB, because you have to wait until someone has chosen UMC.
You have to click a couple of times until finally someone has joined UMC.
With force_team_balance 0, it allows every player to pick the Playerclass at the first click. Because Gore doesn’t try to balance the Teams in this case.
Please tell me if you got anything to add to this.
Greetings ;)
